AAU Junior Olympic Games Detroit, Michigan July 22nd – August 2, 2003 Karate Competition: 7/25/03 – 7/27/03 *** NATALIA BARRETT ***
Natalia Barrett has clenched the Gold Medal at the Junior Olympic Games. She is our Champion. The competition was extremely fierce. Natalia gave it her all. She faced the challenge and was relentless. Her techniques were awesome. Natalia brought home the Gold Medal in Sparring (Kumite). Just a few weeks ago, at the Nationals in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, July 1st through July 6th, Natalia captured the Gold in Weapons, the Bronze in Sparring and took Fifth Place in Forms. At the Regionals on May 3, 2003, Natalia prevailed once again winning the Gold in Forms and Gold in Sparring. On March 30, 2003, at the State Championship Tournament, Natalia captured the Gold in Sparring and Silver in Forms. After her division was completed (intermediate), Natalia was challenged to spar with a Black Belt student who is in the advanced division (Natalia holds a Brown Belt). Natalia gladly accepted the challenge and was awarded a Gold Medal for excellent sportsmanship). There’s more: Natalia is also the 2002 AAU State, Regional and NATIONAL CHAMPION. She competed at the AAU Nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah and brought home the Silver Medal. Natalia, you are New Jersey’s Champion. Renshi Basilio Barrett and Sempai Deborah Barrett are truly proud of their Karate Champion. Congratulations, Tigress.
